Cage Titans 65 Recap
Alyssa Tortora is a staple around the gym… always putting in extra boxing work with Andy in the morning, rarely misses one of my 10am No-Gi Grappling classes, gets into the BJJ classes at night, helps with the kids’ BJJ and Kickboxing classes… and she takes most of the photos we use on social media and of classes. She literally lives the gym… and it showed last night. We have her whole fight below, but you will see her put all of those tools together with an impressive debut.
Andrew Valdina advanced to 5-0 after a win by TKO in the First Round. He continues to get better.
Hilarie got another win… this time by kicking a girl in the leg so hard she couldn’t stand. Loved seeing the aggression out of Hilarie last night!
Miguel showed us he is more than a pretty face. He had a grueling fight against a much bigger opponent that came down a weight class… but still got it done.
Aaron came up short last night… but it was not from a lack of jumping the gilly.
Jack was in the main event fighting for the Welterweight title. He took a huge step up in competition… and while it didn’t end his way, he looked great going into the third round. He showed he has what it takes and got some invaluable experience out of the night that will only help him going forward.
Win or lose… we are always proud of the work put in. Hope to see you all for burgers tomorrow!
Memorial Day is Tomorrow
There are no kids or adult classes on Monday (May 27th). We will however be having a 10am Memorial Day Marathon Grappling/BJJ, and we will be doing burgers and hotdogs around 11am for anyone that wants to stop by. We usually do something like this on Holidays with nicer weather. Come to train… or just skip the training and come for the burgers. Invite is out to anyone that trains with us on Saturdays as well!
Kids In-House Tournament
We are going to host a Kids In-House tournament on June 2nd. You must register in advance for it… and can do so here. It is one week away… so don’t wait to register.
Lauzon MMA Gallon Challenge
This June, we’re excited to run the the Lauzon MMA Water Challenge for our 10th year running! It’s a straightforward yet impactful challenge: aim to drink a gallon of water every day for 30 days. If you find yourself joining us mid-month, no worries—just keep up the challenge for 30 days from your start date.
While some may find it a breeze to consume a gallon daily, others might think it’s a daunting task. However, the key to success is keeping water on hand at all times. Begin your day with a glass of water and continue sipping slowly throughout the day; this makes the challenge much more manageable. It’s helpful to use a 1-liter water bottle, as it’s easy to carry and less cumbersome than smaller or larger options—I use this one refill it at least four times a day.
A heads-up for the enthusiastic hydrators: be ready for frequent bathroom breaks. It’s annoying at first… but you will get your bladder in better shape and need less frequent breaks as you go.
Feel free to enjoy other beverages like soda, coffee, or juice, but remember, they don’t count towards your gallon.
Before diving into the challenge, take a moment to weigh yourself on a reliable scale and snap a before photo. We have a GREAT scale at the gym in the staff room… just ask one of our instructors and they will grab it for you. We’ll do the same at the end of the month. Many participants notice weight loss without effort, increased energy levels, and even a healthier, more youthful skin appearance, as staying hydrated reduces hunger and keeps you feeling full.
Let’s crush that water.
