This July, we’re running a simple but powerful challenge at the gym—The Lauzon MMA Gallon Challenge. It’s exactly what it sounds like: drink 1 gallon of water a day for 30 days.
That’s it. No meal plans. No supplements. Just water.
Some people think a gallon is easy. Others act like we’re asking them to chug a lake. But here’s the truth: if you keep water with you all day and start drinking early, it’s way easier than it sounds.
Getting Started (Even If You’re Late)
Didn’t hear about it on July 1st? No problem. You can start any time—just commit to 30 days from your start date.
Before Day 1, take a photo and weigh yourself on a reliable scale. Do the same at the end of the 30 days. Odds are, if you stick with it, you’re going to notice a difference. Most people lose a little weight without even trying, just by being full of water all day and snacking less.
Joe’s Pro Tips
Here’s what I’ve found that helps:
-
Start drinking the moment you wake up. Don’t wait or it becomes torture later in the day.
-
Use a 1-liter bottle. It’s the sweet spot—small enough to carry, big enough to get through the day without constantly refilling. I usually get through 4 or more of these a day.
-
Don’t rush it. Drink slowly, all day long. Make it automatic.
-
And be ready: you’re going to be hitting the bathroom a lot.
You can still drink other stuff—coffee, soda, juice—but those don’t count toward your gallon.
Why Bother?
Honestly? Because it works. When you’re hydrated:
-
You feel more energized on the mats
-
You recover better
-
Your skin looks healthier
-
You eat less without thinking about it
Plus, if you’re training in our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or Kickboxing programs during the summer, water is your best friend. It keeps you cool, focused, and less likely to feel sluggish halfway through class.
If you’re already training with us, join the challenge and keep yourself accountable! If you’re not—this is a great time to stop by, schedule a class, and see what makes training at Lauzon MMA different.
